Built in the 1960s Astley Place, a former shopping center at the heart of Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been fully stripped back to the original frame in preparation of its conversion to a residential led mixed use scheme. The repurposing will breathe new life into the town center delivering 46 apartments, alongside shops, bars, cafes, an urban pocket park and a new live music venue. Sensitive demolition of the former façade and non-structural elements was completed in spring 2025. This required careful planning and preparation to provide the development footprint for the new proposals.

Reusing the frame of the former shopping center will allow accelerated delivery of the regeneration scheme and significantly reduce the carbon impact compared with traditional demolition and rebuild. Astley Place is one of three regeneration projects the developer is delivering for Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.
